Musings of 2025
For the last however many years, I’ve tried to do some on-trend summary of my year in business and post it to the gram. Let’s be blunt, any of us who do this are clearly peacocking about how busy and amazing their businesses are but as we’re on the platform to try sell our services, I’m not saying this is a bad thing.
This year on the run up to Christmas I lost all energy and enthusiasm. I thought I’d escaped burnout as, for the first time since setting up this business, I took a summer holiday and due to my expanding team I also managed to take at least one weekend off a month which felt like an absolute dream. Then November hit and I found myself making all the mental excuses I could, to avoid leaving the house unless I absolutely had to. I hunkered down under my blanket in the sitting room and Netflix Christmas rom-coms became my new best friends. I usually use the winter period to focus on my business rather than the clients I’m working for but even that was feeling like a gargantuan task and it dawned on me that burnout had hit.
I’m not sure there’s ever going to be a solution to this if I stick to performing this role and run it the way I have been. I always said my absolute ideal would be to have consistent bookings; ideally two a month, every month of the year but its rare to be booked as a wedding planner regularly in November and December and personally I have never had a January and February booking so then of course I find myself saying yes to as much as possible once Spring hits.
Anyway this is far from being a ‘woe is me’ post because I love my job and I think anyone in a creative field gets this type of come down when they’ve put their heart and soul into an event or offering of some sort. In fact, and to get back on track to the opening of this blog, what I was actually inspired to post about was my year in summary via a collection of pictures. It may not have performed well for the algorithm when I posted it but it made me extremely grateful for the 2025 I’ve experienced on both a business and personal level as so often overlaps in my role - I am my business!
I had to break it down to two posts because the word ‘summary’ when you like to overshare as I do, doesn’t work well for me and so I thought I’d also post it in full version on here.

January: saw the start of zoom meetings again. Me and the team start to meet with all couples getting married at our partner venues, in this month.
It also saw a lot of snow, mindful walks (with breakfast included), the kids being selected to be the faces of the York ice trail promo and a trip to the North East.

February : I stole my friend’s horse, took trips to art galleries and finally got round to sharing some of the amazing footage that came out of my first Ed.ited workshop.
March: saw the team being invited to catering networking events (always a pleasure) Emily from the team’s gorgeous puppy became our LND mascot and we officially introduced Emma as part of the team via our branding shoot from Boho Chic Photography.
April: weddings started back for the team (professional image top left corner owned by Carla W photography), I coveted site visits for 2026 weddings and I hosted my first Productive Pop Up with thanks to Priory Cottages
I also said yes to styled shoots again after many years off.
May: added to the ink collection, covered more fabulous weddings and made sure I made time for reformer
June: a logistically challenging wedding was pulled off with huge success. Another beautiful styled shoot I’ve shared recently on my Instagram. Went back to paddle boarding with a lovely friend she nailed it…me not so much this time. Tried Ryde and LOVED it!
July: a tale of two halves with the weather. My heart broke for the wonderful P&A when their big day was THE foggiest but they didn’t let it ruin anything - so it didn’t and I’ve just seen the professional images which quite frankly make it look sexy as hell!
It also saw me take my first summer holiday in 10 years!!

August: still in holiday mode for the first half and then back with energy to couples galleries landing, being so well fed at weddings and launching Ed.ited volume 2

September: birthday month so I treated myself to a riding lesson for the first time in years. Honoured to be invited back to family homes, tidied up people’s big days and tried a floating sound bath!
October: said goodbye to the last wedding of 2025, stayed in a gorgeous cabin on the river. Nailed ‘organic’ by Ed.ited with thanks to awesome team work and the best bunch of attendees. (professional image centre left owned by Charlotte Nelson photography).
Covered more site visits for 2026 weddings and found some ancient graffiti of my initials at Hampton court palace.
November: hosted the last two Productive Pops up of the year including a collab with Rise Hall which was very special.
A magical visit to Lapland uk. Got stuck in a snow disaster but still made a team meeting… always committed to improving services.
Made some business connections with Harrogate Jewellers watch this space…
December: offered a venue consultation session to a farm looking to diversify. Went exploring for new Ed.ited venues, got ready for Christmas and watched magical sunrises feeling grateful for where I live, this year and all team LND have achieved.
As I said above, the reflection has given me huge sense of gratitude to those who have supported me both in my freelance team and wider, to be able to take breaks, try new things and given me sparks of energy for what’s ahead in 2026.
